Her name was Dorothy but her parents called her Bonnie. One day I asked Grandpa Lonon why he called her Bonnie and he said it was because she reminded him of chocolate Bon Bons. I like to think that was because Aunt Bonnie was so sweet. Aunt Bonnie was like a second mom to me. Spending time at Aunt Bonnie's and Uncle Ronald's house was like being at my Mom and Dad's only I didn't have to mow the lawn. I always enjoyed hanging out at Aunt Bonnie's. Her house was filled with love and fun. She treated me like I was one of her own sons and her sons were like brothers to me.
Aunt Bonnie and my Mom were inseparable. They also had the same taste in clothes which made shopping difficult because they both liked the same outfits for themselves and for their kids. The only question was who would buy a particular outfit first. Not only were they sisters, they were best friends their entire lives. They seemed to spend every waking moment with each other either in person or on the phone. Some of my earliest memories with Aunt Bonnie were the Canasta card games that Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Ronald played with my Mom and Dad that would last late into the night. Later in life the four of them would frequently go out to dinner together on the weekends. My family cherished every moment we got to spend with Aunt Bonnie. The joy she brought to my Mom and our family cannot be overstated.
I love you Aunt Bonnie. You will be missed.
