Dorothy Lavonne "Bonnie" Pierce's Obituary
Dorothy Lavonne “Bonnie” Pierce (Lonon) passed away on 12/07/2021 at the age of 92.
Bonnie was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Clarence and Myrtle Lonon on 04/25/1929. She spent the majority of her life in Tulsa graduating from Central High School, with a brief residency in the Dallas area. She met the love of her life, Ronald Jennings Pierce, in 1947 after his military service during WWII with the Navy. Bonnie married Ronald on December 4, 1948. Four years after establishing their home in Tulsa they began a family and raised 3 sons in the Tulsa area. After many years as a stay-at home mother, Bonnie began working as a receptionist in a dental office and later worked for Tulsa Public Schools as a registrar. After retiring she became the grandmother of all grandmothers, helping to raise several of her grandkids. For her children working full time jobs, she would pick their kids up from school and keep them until they got off work providing the stay-at home mom environment for which she was famous. She was always available to babysit, taking them to appointments, sports events, just anything that was needed. She felt it important for her boys and their spouses to have date nights; always offering to be their overnight sitter. As years past and great grandkids entered the picture Bonnie was right there offering the same. She and Ron loved their family so much they rarely missed an opportunity to attend any event in which the kids, grandkids, or great grandkids were involved.
Bonnie was a long-time member of 29th and Yale Church of Christ.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Ronald in 2004. She is survived by her sons Gary and wife Linda of Rockford, Illinois, Richard and husband David Virili of Tulsa, OK, and Steve and wife Christi of Foyil, Oklahoma; 13 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.
