In Loving Memory of Doy Raines (February 13, 1937 - August 14, 2023)
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Doy Raines, a cherished father, devoted grandfather, great grandfather, loyal friend, and a true lover of the great outdoors. Doy left us on August 14, 2023, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loved ones, as he embarked on his final journey.
Doy was a man whose life was a testament to his enduring passion for the world around him. Born on February 13, 1937, he grew up with a profound appreciation for the natural beauty that surrounded him. Whether it was camping in the wilderness, fishing in tranquil streams, or simply enjoying the beauty of a sunset, Doy found solace and joy in the great outdoors.
An avid tinkerer and fixer of things, Doy possessed a knack for taking broken pieces and transforming them into working treasures. His hands were always busy, whether he was repairing a lawnmower, tinkering with an old radio, or crafting something new from odds and ends. This love for hands-on work was a reflection of his tenacity and resourcefulness, qualities that endeared him to those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Doy's legacy is carried on by his loving children, Janette Ramsey and her husband Tim, and Anette Blakeman and her husband Kyle. His presence lives on in the lives of his eight grandkids and twelve great-grandkids, who were fortunate to have experienced his warmth, wisdom, and boundless love.
Doy's sister, Genevive Bearden, shared a lifelong bond with him, a connection that transcended the years and provided unwavering support and companionship. His dear friend Nina Daniels was another cornerstone of his life, a friendship that enriched his journey and brought countless shared memories.
Doy's path was not without its share of sorrows, as he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carolyn Gene, and his son, Eric Raines. The memories of their presence continue to resonate, reminding us of the deep connections that shape our lives.
As we bid farewell to Doy Raines, let us remember him for the joy he found in the world's simple pleasures, his dedication to craftsmanship, and his unwavering love for family and friends. May his legacy inspire us to embrace nature, value our relationships, and approach life with the same spirit of adventure and determination that defined his journey.
