Tim Smith
The last lengthy conversation I had with Ed was at Damon ‘s wedding. We were sitting poolside having a casual conversation and then Ed stated, “you know I’m the luckiest man alive”. I said, “how so”. He then said, “how else can you explain how blessed I’ve been to have Barbara as a wife and have three such incredible kids and grandkids”. I said, “your right Ed, you are a lucky (expletive)”. We chuckled for a moment and then he went into detail speaking of the pride he had in his family. One by one he went down the family list offering numerous examples of family members’ traits and achievements that made him so proud of each and everyone.
Ed was always easy to talk to and always had wonderful stories to share. His dry humor was legendary, and his monumental steadfastness / stubbornness were endearing traits. He was a gracious, generous and a compassionate man. He treated others with kindness and respect and was always willing to help others that needed a hand… all characteristics clearly passed on and demonstrated in his children. These qualities and much more made up a great man that I hold dear to my heart. But when I think of him, his profound love, pride and passion for his family comes top of mind.
Godspeed Edwin Eugene Luce.
