Mary and I were deeply saddened at the news of Ed's passing. To Ann, Jennifer, Margaret and families, we extend our heartfelt sympathies. I got to know Ed in the late 70's when he joined the Amerada Hess legal department in Tulsa. At the time, I was definitely still a cub when it came to legal knowledge and wisdom. Ed generously gave of his time and legal wisdom, which helped me a lot (of course, in my case, there was plenty of room for improvement). The Amerada Hess legal group also included another, younger baby lawyer who had been a cheerleader at O.U.: Wyn Dee Baker. We dubbed her "Roseann Roseannadanna" after a Saturday Night Live character. One time, during one of our staff meetings, after we had been giving her a hard time, she intended to refer to Ed as "little Eddie Parker" only it came out as "little Eddie Porker" by mistake. "Roseanne" was, of course, embarrassed and red-faced by her slip of the tongue, but Ed took it all in his good-natured stride, laughing with his silent laugh. Ed had nothing but good, even-keeled, admirable qualities and will be missed in this world. Jim Niedermeyer
