Dear Phi, You do not know me, but when I read of your mother's passing, I felt I needed to write to you to tell you how very much she infludenced my life. I was in college in 1960-61 at Conners College. I was in my laste 30's and had my children in school, and I decided to go back to college. I had a few hours at Northeastern, and even taught on an "emergency certificate" during the war. I enrolled in her class about marriage and relationships and loved every minute of it. It was then I decided to major in Psychology. She encouraged me to continue my education and we became good friends. It was not easy and it took me a few years, but in 1972, I got my degree at Northeastern in Psychology. I worked for DHS in Okmulgee at first, then began teaching at OSU Okmulgee. The course was Human Relatioins, much like the one she taught at Connors. This was the highlight of my life. I remember seeing her at Northestern, but I am sorry I did not keep in touch. Had I known she was in Tulsa, I would have, because I'd like her to know how much she meant to me. I'm sure she influenced many others, as she did me, but I wanted you to know how much she impacted my life. I am 85 now, retired and happy that at times I would imagine I was teaching just like Evelyn Cottrell.Sincerely, Valta Ree Casselman 512 E 19th St. Okmulgee, OK 74447 918-756-4453
