Dr. Evelyn K. Cottrell's Obituary
Evelyn K. Cottrell was called to her heavenly home on October 23, 2011. Born on October 24, 1926 to Hattie and Chris Fountain in Oden, Arkansas. She grew up in the depression of the 1930's. Her love of education led her to pursue a Doctorate in Education which was granted on January 5, 1972 from Oklahoma State University. For over 33 years she was a college professor at Connors State College and later the head of the Home Economics Department at NSU in Tahlequah. She was one of NSU's most popular instructors with special interest in marriage and family relations and child development. Strong in her primitive Baptist faith she was married for 33 years to the Reverend R.L. Cottrell until his death in 1979. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister, Gladys Campbell. Survivors include her son, Phil Cottrell and wife, Melissa; her granddaughter, Courtney Henderson and husband, Matt; her great grandson, Dylan, as well as, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and ex-students
