Floyd and Mary (Floyd Jr) were my neighbors for many years. They were the perfect neighbors to have and such a sweet couple. I always enjoyed speaking with them. Floyd Sr was the very first person I met on our street. I know he is missed by all who knew him.
I remember how entertaining your dad was, Floyd, Je., and Barbara. Barbara, you will remember when he told me not to accept a piece of pie at your relative’s house. Then everyone but me had a piece of pie! He joked around and said when too many people slept over, once they fell asleep, he would just stack them in rows. He was a devoted husband and loved his children and grandchild. I have always thought of him fondly.
I believe we are distant cousins. Our Mother was Bernice Mae Nichols Murphy. Several times her cousin Floyd would drop by the house with the Fire engine blaring during their trip to collect groceries near by. Mom always got a kick out of Floyds surprised nosy visits. She continual talked about it for years. These visits seem to happen when we were at school so, we would come home to the news each time. It was the highlight of Mom's day/week. She loved to see him and we are grateful for his thoughtfulness to remember and take the time to see her.
