Gail Eileen Emerson's Obituary
Gail Eileen Owen Emerson, 78, of Tulsa, passed away on January 8, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 29, 1938, in Tulsa to the late Joel F. and Eileen L. (Belva) Owen. Gail graduated from Daniel Webster High School in 1956. She attended Oklahoma State University for two years, where she was a member of Nu Chapter of Kappa Delta Sorority. She was also a lifetime member of the Daniel Webster High School Alumni Foundation; a member of the Kappa Delta White Rose Circle (50 years plus membership) and served as president of the Kappa Delta Tulsa Alumnae Chapter in 1979-80, 1980-81 and 1985-86. Gail also served several terms on the Collegiate Advisory Board of Beta Epsilon Chapter of Kappa Delta at The University of Tulsa.Gail loved to travel, and enjoyed many trips with her husband Wayne. Hawaii was their favorite, and they visited the islands every other year from 1985-2011. They also enjoyed trips to England, Germany, Austria, Bora Bora, Central and South America and the Caribbean. She loved to dance; from square dancing to modern dance — Gail and Wayne lived life to the fullest. At one time she was a secretary in the energy industry, but taking care of her home was her proudest position. Gail was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.Preceded in death by her parents; Gail is survived by her husband of 57 years, Wayne Emerson; brother, John Owen & his wife, Jill Evans; sister, Debbie Owen Gipson & her husband, Jim Gipson; nieces and nephews, Mike Emerson & wife Jana Emerson, Charles Emerson & fiancé, Diana Higgins, James Owen & wife Michele Owen, Matthew Gipson & his wife, Meaghan Gipson, Jennifer Dammerman & husband, Dan Dammerman and Jessica Kara & her husband, Dax Kara.Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017, Floral Haven Funeral Home, Broken Arrow, OK. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, January 12, 2017, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel, with interment in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Gail to the Alzheimer’s Association, Oklahoma Chapter, 2448 East 81st St, Ste 3000, Tulsa, OK 74137.
