I first met Gary when I went to work for rainbow concrete in the late 80's. Immediately we became life long friends after I left rainbow after several years i would see Gary every so often on other job sites and Gary always would want to visit with me if he had the time to do so if he didn't Gary would say Jim i would love to visit with you but I don't have the time right now but next time we meet I'll make time for us to talk. I didn't see Gary after that for quite a few years and then when I went to work for A & M CONCRETE GARY was the salesman there Gary came up to me and said JIM they told me we were getting a new driver but they never told me it was you now we can talk anytime we want to. So several years later I quit A & M AND went back to RAINBOW GARY said JIM i sure hate to see you leave us. Gary said I'm sure we'll meet up somewhere so one day I was in the rainbow concrete company concrete truck and I saw Gary i was hanging out my driver's side window screaming and hollering and honking the air horn and Gary never even looked my way. Several years later I pulled in on this one site and A & M also was pouring on this same site and here's Gary i tell Gary i saw him several years before and he didn't even acknowledge he saw me and Gary said JIM that wasn't nothing associated with us being long time friends but the truth of the matter is this if you're not in an A & M truck i simply don't look at any other companies concrete trucks. I have a business card somewhere in my stuff Gary gave to me the day I started to work for A& M with GARY NEWELL'S name on it and Gary's contact information and Gary said JIM if you ever need anything or just want to talk give me a call my friend. I saw Gary one other time a few years later when I was driving a front loader trash truck and because I wasn't in another companies concrete truck Gary came over and talked to me that was the last time I ever ran into Gary anywhere anymore but I am assured if I had and Gary had the time we would have had a conversation just like all the other times. Rest in peace Gary buddy I'll miss not seeing you on some site somewhere miss you my friend.
