Lit a candle in memory of Harold E. Roop
Harold E. Roop! My grandpa, My Father Figure over the years and my best friend. No matter how prepared you think you are for the death of a loved one, it still comes as a shock, and it still hurts very deeply.I have so many great memories of him. I remember my very first time fishing was with Grandpa, Uncle Lee, Uncle Bill. I remember him giving me rides on his motorcycle and grandma getting on to him! I remember him getting on to me when I superglued my sisters fingers together. Thinking about it now…. I should've done her mouth and she couldn't tell on me as easy… I remember when grandpa and grandma took me to go get my driver license and was both trying to teach me how to pass my driving test and what not to do…. Lead foot grandma probably wasn't the best teacher at the time based on all the times she got pulled over and to include the times I wasn't with her and found out later!! LolGrandpa was a huge influence in my life from my childhood years to even after I got married and had kids of my own. Grandpa and grandma have always been there for me and my sisters. They both have a huge heart and can't help themselves, but to help others in need! They are always helping someone everyday whether it was food or a ride across town. All they know is to give, give, give!Grandpa was a Proud Veteran and Proud American! We would talk politics for hours and try to solve the worlds problems. When me and my family would come by to visit when we were in town; he love taking my boys in his office and showing them some history he has collected over the years…. He really enjoyed that! Those are some great memories that my boys nor I will ever forget.I believe my grandpa lived his life very much like this quote. "The purpose of human life is to serve, and to show compassion and the will to help others."There's so much more I could say, but I'll end with this. I never seen what Love really looks like between two people until I seen my grandpa and grandma sing together the day before he past and even in his last minutes of his life here on earth. The Love and Compassion that they have for each other and the Lord is unmeasurable and incredible. They have truly touched us!!!! I hope everyone finds that Love!!!!Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28Your Loving Grandson, Johnathan Daugherty (aka Johnny)PS: Grandpa tell Mom hello for me and I'll see you'll soon!
My Grandpa didn't say much, But when he did you'd listen… I remember when people would come up to me and say: You act just like your Grandpa. All quiet… And I'd look at them with a smile… Cause my Grandpa always taught me, if ya can't say noth'in nice, then don't say noth'in at all… My Grandpa was also good with handling the finances… I remember one time he looked me straight in the eyes and said: Rachel, before you agree to anything, always read the fine print… Grandpa the life lessons you taught me, will go on for generations to come… And you will forever be in my Heart… Love: Your Granddaughter Rachel Green P.S. I'll see you later Grandpa…:heartbeat:
