Helen Marie Turney's Obituary
Helen Marie Turney was born February 10, 1929, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to John L. and Ethel Beall. She attended Webster High School and became engaged at the age of 17 to Vital E. Turney. They married on May 30, 1946. They had three children and Helen was a fulltime Mom for most of their childhoods. Helen and Vital were lifelong residents of Tulsa and were married 38 years before Vital passed away in 1985. In 1992, Helen suffered a severe stroke while delivering Meals on Wheels in the Tulsa area. Her stroke left her partially paralyzed and unable to speak. After her stroke, she moved to Lexington, Oklahoma to live with and near her children. In spite of her stroke, Helen was able to live a full life and enjoy many activities including traveling and sailing. She visited five foreign countries while in her wheelchair and made many visits to the west coast to visit her grandchild and great grandchildren. Helen was an inspiration to many because of her cheerful smile and courageous spirit. Helen is preceded in death by her father and mother, her sister Virginia Beall Corgill; her husband Vital, and her son Dale Allen Turney. Helen is survived by her daughter, Sharon MacIntosh and her son-in-law Jim MacIntosh of Lexington, OK; her son Michael Turney and wife Sherry Worster of Norman, OK; her daughter-in-law Patricia Turney of Tulsa, her brother-in-law Ray Corgill of Tulsa, her granddaughter Michelle Duffield and husband Dave of Alamo, CA; granddaughter Deneka Turney Cain and husband Mark of Norman, OK; her granddaughter Amber Worster Lawson and husband Steve of Norman, Skye Worster Alvarez del Castillo and husband Rodolfo of Norman, OK and Stormy Worster of Norman; grandson Darrell Lee Silcox and wife Jessica of Tulsa; granddaughter Sabrina Silcox Potter and husband Greg of Tulsa. She is also survived by great grandchildren Aubrey, Elise and James Duffield of Alamo, CA; Delaney, Ella and Lorelai Cain of Norman, OK; Jacob and Maggie Silcox of Tulsa, OK; Stella and Ben Lawson of Norman, OK; Javier, Nico and Leo Alvarez del Castillo Worster of Norman, OK; and by numerous nieces and nephews. The family has designated the Katie Moody Foundation for support of hospice patients and families for memorial contributions. Contribution envelopes will be available at the service. The Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 4th, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Floral Haven Funeral Chapel.
