Howard Mark McCully Jr. 's Obituary
Howard Mark McCully Jr. was born June 18, 1956. He moved to Heaven February 12, 2020. Preceding him in death by his parents, Howard Mark McCully Sr. and Dorthy Jay McCully; his first wife, Sherry McCully and sister, Alvira McCully. He leaves behind a wife, Emily Marie McCully; sister, Dorothy Jane McCully; brother, Patric Jay McCully; step-children, Jeremy Hooks, Marilyn Hall and husband, Joe, Larry Hall Jr., Kelly Hall and husband, Jose, Johnny Hall and wife, Amanda; brother-in-law, John Sturm and sister-in-law, Angie Jolly; sister-in-law, Ginger Cooley; many nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; extended family and friends. Mark graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1975. He then went to work at W.C. Norris for 3 years. At age 21, Mark enlisted in the United States Air Force serving 4 years. He became an Integrated Avionics Attack Control Systems Specialist. He was awarded Longevity Service Ribbon, Outstanding Unit Award and Good Conduct Medal. While serving in the Air Force, Mark accomplished private pilot's license to fly Cessnas Aircraft. He retired January 2020 from AT&T, where he worked for 23 years. Mark had a very active lifestyle. He enjoyed camping trips, cooking at the lake and truly appreciated gardening and nature. He loved feeding the birds in the backyard, especially the Martins. Mark could be found frequently at live music events and regularly attended the Summer Nights at Utica Square. He looked forward to the casino trips and loved to challenge himself and others to thought-provoking puzzles and word games. He enjoyed swimming in the backyard with family and held great knowledge regarding drones and aircraft. Mark was a sci-fi movie buff who could correlate any topic with a movie title. Mark was an annual OU season ticket holder. He loved to tailgate and enjoy the festivities and proudly participated in the OU Fanatics of Tulsa. He was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and also belonged to the Astrology Club of Tulsa. Mark blessed his family and friends through his culinary skills with a special emphasis on his barbeque and carrot cake. He loved to share recipes, but kept his secret sauces to himself. Mark enjoyed enhancing and spending time in his man cave. He especially enjoyed playing darts with his friends. Mark was friendly and inviting to anyone that met his acquaintance. He shared joy and laughter and loved to see his family and friends have a wonderful time. Through his example, Mark taught all of us patience daily. To know Mark was to love Mark. His spirit will remain with us, and his presence will be greatly missed.
