Irene Louise Selph's Obituary
Irene Louise Selph, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, died peacefully, surrounded by family on May 9, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital. She was 80. Irene was born April 23, 1937 and was married to Earl Selph until his death in 2005.Irene was a graduate of Will Rogers High School and worked as a secretary for several years before starting her family.She was also the owner of Spot Lite Magic and Costumes in Tulsa for 22 years. Irene always enjoyed sports, playing tennis, driving golf balls, and bowling. So, upon retirement, she became active in a Senior Bowling League. She made many friends and it was there that she met the very “special” love of her life, Joe Meyers. Joe and Irene enjoyed 10 years together, until his death in February of 2017. Joe was a wonderful companion who really supported and cared for Irene in so many ways.Irene was preceded in death by her parents and sister. She is survived by her son, Brian Cox, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and daughter, Carol and husband Kirk Benson of Leawood, Kansas; four grandchildren Brandon, Mike, Jack, Corey; two great grandchildren Brady and Brylyn; brother, Roy; and one niece, Sandra. She was deeply loved and will forever remain in our hearts.A memorial service will be held in Irene’s honor on Friday, May 9, at the Floral Haven Chapel at 3 pm. Following the service, family and friends are welcome to gather at the Family Center for food and fellowship.
