Jay was accurately described in the obituary. Ever since I was a child I remember him being genuinely passionate about things he wanted to accomplish and in fact he literally did manage to achieve his dreams. I never considered him an uncle, but instead more of a parent. Both him and my aunt ‘Terry’ who I spent my childhood years growing up with, were parents in my heart. I enjoyed visiting them whenever I could and Jay was always ready to take us somewhere or do his famous bar-b-que limes. Most recently his deep fried turkey, yum! He even convinced my vegan daughter Jeanine to eat his homemade hamburgers, which she quite enjoyed.
He was creative in his jewelry designs, and I have proof lol! He was ambitious, determined, and a fighter.
He loved his retro Caribbean music and at my last visit to him and Terry he played his ole tracks every time we got into the car. He loved ‘The Merrymen’ out of Barbados. We sang and talked about the good old days when music from then would never be forgotten. He even WhatsApp some of the songs a few times.
Jay will always be remembered for his generosity, kindness, cooking skills (Terry too), adventurous personality, serious tone (that would scare anyone who didn’t know him), loving, caring husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
Jay’s legacy will always live on, just like the songs of yesteryear.
Matthew 5:4 “Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.”
With love,
Joanne

I have known Jay since the early 80s, and he was my jeweler locally where I lived, running under the 7th Flushing train and just a short walk away. Our family became great friends and naturally became part of his family. Terri and the kids, as well as Jay’s family, became very close to us as well.
A man of business, always doing his best to help everyone, and I must say that he was also a master chef. He was a boss at making his famous rum punch and punch-a-creme, and I mean it when I say it was “D Boom.”
There is so much to say; however, his love for Terri, his kids and grands, and his brothers and sisters was, and still is, true love.
His soul is now at rest. To my friend, yes, now you can continue the hustle up there. May you Rest in Eternal Peace.
Love always
