Jagdeo Sookhiram's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jagdeo Sookhiram, who died on September 22, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 78. Known as Jay to his friends and family, was born in Trinidad to Sooki and Boodhani Sookhiram. His vibrant personality and zest for life left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Jay married the love of his life, Hilari Granado, on May 14, 1972, in Trinidad. Together, they built a beautiful life, filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Their bond was the definition of true partnership he was not only a loving husband but also her best friend and unwavering support.
A man of many talents, Jay was a wonderful cook who brought joy to family gatherings with his flavorful dishes. He was an avid card player, enjoying many friendly games where his wit and humor were always on full display. Known for his sharp sense of humor, he was a jokester who could light up any room, and he never missed a chance to tell a captivating story, often weaving in life lessons learned along the way.
Motivated by the hustle, he worked tirelessly to build a future for his family, always striving for success while balancing the hard work with fun. He was known for his stern yet loving nature, a man who would push those around him to be the best versions of themselves while showing endless support for those he cared about.
His energy, wisdom, and presence will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and perseverance will continue to live on in the hearts of those who cherished him.
Jay was preceded in death by his devoted parents; his loving brother, Mahadeo Sookhiram; and his cherished sisters, Sharma Cruz and Dhanmatee Sookiram.
Jay is survived by his wife, Hilari Sookhiram; his children, Dave Sookhiram, Lisa Meehan (and her husband Matthew), and Mark Sookhiram (and his wife Amanda); his sisters, Larchie Dalin and Nirmala Sookiram; and his brother, Dulip Sookhiram. He was the proud and loving grandfather of Mark, Meera, Nyla, and Gemma. He will also be deeply missed by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and loved ones.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 25, 2025 from 5-7 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home
Funeral service will be held Friday, September 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Floral Haven Funeral Home - Rose Chapel
