James Bert Smith II's Obituary
James B. Smith II graduated from Tulsa Central High School, Class of 1971 and received degrees in business and statistics from Oklahoma State University. He was an accomplished athlete in football, baseball and rugby, a member of Acacia Fraternity and the Free Mason organization. He held commercial contracting licenses in Florida, Oklahoma, Colorado, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas and Tennessee. Always enjoying a challenge, Jim completed complex, multimillion dollar commercial projects for national corporations, school boards and governmental entities. He began perfecting his craft at the age of twelve and gained notoriety by executing large scale projects, testifying in commercial litigation cases and being featured in various trade publications. He was a self taught investor, always thought ‘out of the box’ and enjoyed fishing and hunting, as well as lifting weights, bicycling and supporting youth sports. Jim studied economics, politics and football in his spare time. He was a wise and generous provider, fierce protector and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Florence Smith and brother in law Scott Powers. He is survived by wife Norma, daughter Kimberly Erwin and grandsons Christian and Ian, daughter Krissy Cooksey, her husband Scott Cooksey and granddaughter Amelia, as well as his sister Shelia Powers, nephews Buddy Powers, Steven Powers, niece Shelby Donahue and countless friends and family.
Viewing will be held Tuesday, January 14th from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 15th at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel.
