Jane Bower Waters' Obituary
Jane Waters, age 82, passed from this life on December 6, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on October 16, 1943, at Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland, to Frank Miles Bower and Mary Estella (Russell) Bower.
Jane’s life was a testament to faith, family, compassion, and generosity. A devoted follower of Jesus, she was a long-time member of Asbury Methodist Church, Tulsa, Ok. She found joy in studying the Bible, her friends in her Emmaus reunion group, and the New Beginnings(NBC)Sunday School class. She lived her faith through service to others and served many years with the Kairos Prison Ministry. She had a deep passion for supporting vulnerable women.
Jane graduated from Will Rogers High School Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1961. She attended Drury college in Missouri and ultimately graduated from Missouri State University. She was a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
She spent most of her professional career in the insurance industry with Aetna, managing OK, TX, and AR territories; CFR; and Preferred Risk. She began as a claims adjuster, moved into leadership, and eventually became an agent. Her work ethic, leadership, and mentorship earned her the respect of many. She was named Texas business woman of the year twice.
Jane cherished and was devoted to her friendships and family alike. She appreciated the Arts and enjoyed Sporting events. She was always up for a good competition.
After her retirement, she moved to Trinity Woods Retirement Community. Here she developed treasured friendships and served the community in many ways. During the Covid pandemic, she served fellow residents by hosting what they called Balcony Prayers, a devotion that included singing, scripture reading, and prayer.
Those who knew Jane will remember her as a woman with a huge heart, a steadfast faith, and an unwavering devotion to God. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the lessons she imparted, and the love she gave so freely.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frank and Mary Bower; siblings Thomas Lynn Russell Bower, Karen Patricia Bower Duncan, and Brent Frank Bower. Left to cherish Jane's memory is her nieces Jane Ann Brock and her spouse Jim, of Tulsa, OK, Katie Bower and her spouse Joshua Wilson, of Austin, TX, and Kristina Bower and her spouse Paul Steinke; of Honolulu, HI, great niece and nephews Olivia Boyer and her spouse Ben, of Broken Arrow, Ok, Allen Brock and Hayip Brock, both of Tulsa, Ok; sister in law Patricia Bower; of Waco, TX, along with other family members and friends who will forever cherish Jane’s presence in their life.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 2, 2025 at 2 PM at Trinity Woods, Westervelt Hall, 4134 E. 31 St , Tulsa, OK 74135. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Trinity Woods Good Samaritan Fund.
