Janis Smith's Obituary
Janis Marie Smith was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on October 21, 2022, at the age of 62 after a private but courageous battle with stage IV gallbladder cancer. Janis graduated from Tulsa Rogers High School in 1978 and earned her nursing degree from Tulsa Junior College. Janis met Randy Smith in 1983 and they were married 18 months later in 1984. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Eastern Oklahoma Ear Nose and Throat for the past 35 years.
Janis was a devoted wife, mother, Nani, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, best friend, co-worker, and nurse. To know Janis in any capacity was to love her. She was an exceptional friend to all – kind, compassionate, patient, loving and selfless. She had a sweet, gentle, and giving spirit, a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious laugh. In recent years, Janis was an extraordinary caregiver for her husband Randy during his long and hard-fought battle with Covid. Her faith, love and devotion were inspiring for all to witness. She was truly a rare and special gift on this earth.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
Janis is survived by her husband, Robert Randall Smith; her daughter Danielle Marie (husband Todd) Lisle; her son, Austin Jacob Smith; her sister, Carol Thompson (husband Randall) White; her niece Erica Thompson Henry; her nephews Todd Randall White and Craig Michael White (wife Michelle); grandchildren Ashton and Emerson Lisle and Aaliyah Smith (all Tulsa, OK), closest friend Heidi Cowen and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
