Jerry Lee Lawrence's Obituary
Jerry Lee Lawrence, 89, of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, January 27th, 2021. Jerry was born in Atwood, Oklahoma on June 22, 1931, to his father, Orlen Lawrence, and his mother, Jewel Comstock Lawrence. He married his wife of over 60 years, Edith Allene Tillery Lawrence on April 2nd, 1951. They moved to Tulsa and he began working for PSO. He was then drafted and served in the Army during the Korean War. After which, he returned to work at PSO and continued to work there for over 40 years. He was the Plant Superintendent at the power station in Oologah, Oklahoma when he retired in1993. At that time, he and Allene enjoyed many years of traveling the country in their Holiday Rambler motor home. He also enjoyed woodworking, yard work, and spending time with family and friends. After Allene’s death in December 2014, he soon moved to University Village Retirement Center with his little dog, Joy. There he enjoyed being a member of the UV choir, the Friday afternoon mens’ group, and the Wednesday evening Bible Study. He also continued to attend Highland Park Christian Church. Jerry also enjoyed attending the birthday parties and sporting events of his seven great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed making pecan pies, eating at IHOP, reading, working crossword puzzles, and watching Big Bang Theory and Fox News. Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Allene, his parents, his brothers, Bob and Bill Lawrence, and his son-in-law, Steve Smith. He is survived by his son, Gordon Lawrence and his wife, Robin, and his daughter, Barbara Smith. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Aaron Smith and his wife, Felecia, Alexandra Remy and her husband, Sam, Anna Gundy and her husband, Evan, and Adam Lawrence and his wife, Christina. Jerry was also survived by his seven great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Addie Smith, Jack and Wyatt Remy, and Grayson, Hudson, and Preston Gundy.
A private family service will be held in honor of Jerry at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
