Thank you Rhonda for your kind words, Dad spoke of you often, his clients were like his second family. Mandy
Ian, my parents had such a great time getting to know you and visiting you in England. They were so grateful that you shared your research surrounding Don's crash and helped add some closure. My parents traveled a lot in the past 5 to 10 years, but my mom said that the England trip was Dad's favorite. His office has a wall of pictures from that trip and the memorial, and the framed remnants from the plane. Thank you for the friendship and hospitality you showed them.
Joanne and I send our most sincerest of best wishes and prayers to Dianne and the whole McQueary family. We first knew Ed, along with Dianne, in 1998. It came about because Ed's Brother Donald Alvis had flown with our organisation in WW2. It was through many correspondences about Don, that we finally met in 2000 here in England, as part of a memorial dedication to Don and his B-17 Fortress crew, lost in action back in 1944.It gave me immense pride to have found Ed, and then to have shared in that event and to share in the many stories surrounding that event. I was to later visit Ed's family in 2001, as a guest at his home in Broken Arrow. I was treated like a friend and part of the family, which I shall never forget.Hearing of Ed's passing is indeed a very very sad thing for me personally.God Speed Ed.Ian White – 305th Bomb Group Memorial Association.
Ed the best plumber EVER!!! In 16 years I can't think of 1 time a customer didn't enjoy him and Scott and the service they provided but for me personally he more than just a contractor, he was a true friend, he loved to tease me about my kids & grandkids and always taking care of them but from his stories I know he wouldn't have done it any differently!! Recently he let me know I had put on a little too much weight HAHA but was so proud of his daughter and Diana for all of their hard work to keep their weight under control it was his way I think of encouraging me to take off those unwanted pounds LOL I will miss you & our weekly talks!! So thankful I got to know you and call you my friend!!! Love Always Rhonda with Oak Creek Homes!!
It always amazed me how much fun we had at ship reunions over the years. Guys from places like Brooklyn and Boston and Wichita and Broken Arrow…we are all brothers in arms and will always share these fond memories and the memories of the time we spent together as young men aboard the Bordelon. Ed was always in the middle of it all and he will be truly missed as we continue to meet. Diana please accept our deepest condolences at your loss. I assure you we will keep him in our hearts and minds forever, and we will hoist a drink in his honor when we come together in Philly next year.
My dad always had a funny story from "Big Jim" from Durham's. He enjoyed visiting with you for sure.
Thank you for the kind words Carol. I love the BBQ story! Thanks for sharing. It was always fun to listen to my dad and your dad together.
I had the pleasure of knowing Jesse as I called him for 30 years, will miss our long talks about our everyday adventures with city inspectors, You could always expect him to do something ornery to lighten up your day, truly one of a kind person, that will be missed by all, Jim @ Durham tulsa
I had the pleasure of knowing Ed through Palm Harbor Homes. I always looked forward to his weekly visits and him giving me a hard time about my "work" cat. We just sat in my office and talked about our dachshund's and the crazy things they had done since the last time we had talked. He usually came in during our morning meeting at work so he would just sit down, join in and give us his 2 cents worth on whatever topic we were discussing. We would ask his opinion on certain things and he always had an answer. I will truly miss him. He was one of a kind. Thoughts and prayers to all of his family.Pam Haines
