Jo Ann Foley's Obituary
Jo Ann “Jodie” Foley passed from this life on February 18th, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jodie was born in Denver, Colorado to O.R. “Jack” and Ruby Boyce on November 18th, 1934. Her family moved to Ponca City where she completed early elementary grades and later finished her schooling in Tulsa where she attended Central High School in downtown Tulsa and was very involved in social clubs and class activities before graduating in 1953. Upon graduation, she employed her excellent secretarial and administrative skills in her first job at Warren Petroleum Company. While hanging up cupids in decorating for Warren Petroleum’s company Valentine’s party she met her future husband, M.J. Foley. They married on August 10th, 1956, and were happily married for almost 57 years until his passing in 2013. She retired from American Electric Power (formerly TransOk Pipeline) in 1996 and thoroughly enjoyed many years of retirement with regular gatherings with friends and her family whom she cherished. Jodie was a woman of faith and, with M.J., attended Woodland Acres Baptist Church for many years. Jodie, with her fabulous sense of humor, quick wit, and contagious laughter was often compared to Lucille Ball by those who knew her best. She always had a wealth of friends who knew her as authentic, humble, and fun-loving. She was a great optimist and was always loving, positive, and kind. Jodie took great pride in a very tidy, well-run home and was always the glue of her family. Her many roles included girl scout leader, cub scout leader, scorekeeper, medic, counselor, hostess, chef, chauffeur, family diplomat, accountant, and so many more. Jodie was wholly devoted to her family whom she loved deeply and demonstrated it so well – they were her passion and purpose. Many of her grandchildren’s favorite childhood memories were made with her at her home and at the lake.
Jodie was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Ruby Boyce, her sister Norma Jackson, and beloved husband M.J. Foley. Jodie is lovingly remembered by her three children Debi Foster, Dave Foley, and Pam Foley, brother-in-law Carl Foley, her five grandchildren Chris Conner, Clint Conner, Taylor Moyer, Darby Sieczkowski, and Jennifer Taubenberger, and seven great-grandchildren Jacob Conner, Andi Conner, Camden Sieczkowski, M.J. Sieczkowski, Shepard Moyer, Nolan Taubenberger, and Grant Taubenberger.
Jodie’s Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at Floral Haven, 6420 S. 129th E. Ave, Broken Arrow, OK on February 25th, 2023, at 10 am with Pastor Kriss Haymes of Woodland Acres Baptist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association at https://act.alz.org. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Jodie’s many friends who made her life rich and full. Mom found great peace in her relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and now joins Dad who had also surrendered to the Lord. Reunited, they will worship Him together for eternity in their heavenly home.
