John David Williams' Obituary
Johnny “John” Williams passed away peacefully in his home on September 23, 2015 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 67. Johnny was born on August 31, 1948 in Enid, Oklahoma to John Bragg Williams and Elsie Mae Weber. He graduated from California Polytechnic Institute in Pomona, California in March 1973 with a Bachelor of Science in Management. He served in the Army from 1969 to1971 and acted as a medic in-country during the Vietnam War. Johnny is survived by his life partner Nalora Burns of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; his two sons, Jeremy David and his wife Charlotte of Gilbert, Arizona, and Nathaniel Sean and his wife Yevgeniya of Beaverton, Oregon; his brothers, Harold Williams of Pennsylvania and Joseph Williams of Oklahoma and his sisters Linda Swart and Geneva Batchelder of Oklahoma; his half-siblings William Ryan of Japan, Kathleen Ryan of Nevada and Francis Ryan of California; his grandchildren David and Emily of Gilbert, Arizona; his aunt Barbara Weber of Oklahoma; and his many nieces, nephews and friends. His family remember him as a generous, patient, and caring individual who always put the needs of others above his own. Johnny was accomplished at chuck wagon cooking, cowboy action shooting and baking. He was an individual who loved genealogical research and who was passionate about educating young people about the American Civil War and local history. He was an active and dedicated member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, the Single Action Shooting Society and the Oklahoma Historical Society.A funeral is scheduled for Saturday October 3rd at Floral Haven Funeral Home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. A viewing will be held at 2:00 p.m. with a service to follow at 3:00 p.m. His son Jeremy D. Williams will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Johnny’s life.
