John Walter Gass' Obituary
John Walter Gass, 84, of Tulsa, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 22, 2013. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, on November 6, 1928, the son of Harry and Ada Gass. He served his country in the U.S. Navy, until his honorable discharge in 1955. Walter loved his church, his friends and spending time with his family, especially looking forward to family reunions. He also enjoyed watching Dallas Cowboy football. Through the years he traveled many places, always looking forward to the next adventure. He became an ordained minister late in his life, and loved the Lord with all of his heart. He was loved by many, and bigger than life to those who loved him most. He is survived by his children, John Moore, and his wife, Brenda, of Ft. Worth, TX, Donna Hogg, and her husband, Don, of Tulsa, Wayne Moore, and his wife, Brenda, of Talala, Tommy Teters, and his wife, Suzan, of Hawthorne, Nevada, Warren Burns, and his wife, Sue, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, James Gass, of Wagoner, and Cheryl Smith, and her husband, Allen, of Broken Arrow, 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, his loving companion of many years, Sami Lynn Ruis, and her children Amber O’Neal and Paul Burns, and numerous other family members and friends. He had lots of family and friends who knew him as Walter, but to his children he was known as “daddy” or “dad”. He also had some furry friends he loved dearly, his granddog, Winston Bartholomew, and his favorite cats, Yoda and P.J. He was preceded by his parents, daughter, Cindy, and brothers Johnny Ray Roftis, George Roftis and Steve Roftis.
