John Mastandrea's Obituary
John Mastandrea, 67, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was promoted to glory on February 10, 2026.
Born on December 6, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, to Robert and Katherine Mastandrea, John carried his Chicago roots proudly his entire life — and he never let anyone forget it. Whether it was cheering (and occasionally passionately coaching from the couch) for the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears, or insisting that Friday nights were reserved for good pizza and wrestling, he was loyal to his teams and his traditions.
For 37 years, he was married to the love of his life, Priscila. Their story was one of faithfulness, laughter, partnership, and unwavering love. His pride and joy was his daughter, Crystal — and he made sure everyone knew it. Becoming “Papa” to Robert III, Emma, and Fallon only expanded his heart in ways that somehow made it even bigger.
John was a Salvation Army soldier for nearly 38 years, faithfully serving God and others. His life was marked by generosity, compassion, and a deep love for people. For many years, he spread joy as “Santa John,” bringing magic, laughter, and wide-eyed wonder to countless children and families. To know him was to be welcomed, teased affectionately, fed generously, and loved deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Katherine; his brothers, Robert and Michael; his sister-in-law, Patricia; and his brother-in-law, Vinny.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Priscila; his daughter, Crystal, and son-in-love, Bobby; his cherished grandchildren, Robert III, Emma, and Fallon; his sister, Sue Ann; his brothers, Joseph and Anthony (Philomena); his brother-in-law, Mike (Sandy); his sisters-in-law, Vicki (Gary) and Rose Mary (Jamie); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will carry his stories and laughter forward.
A celebration of John’s life will be held on February 21st at 11:00 a.m. at The Salvation Army Tulsa Citadel, 3901 E. 28th St., Tulsa, OK 74114, officiated by Major Mark Gilliam.
The family invites you to honor John in true Chicago fashion — wear your Chicago Cubs gear if you have it, or Cubby blue in celebration of his life. In honor of John and his love for sports, we invite you to carry that passion forward. John was an amazing husband, father, papa, and friend. Because of him, lives were changed, love was shared freely, and laughter was never in short supply. He lived big, loved bigger, and left a mark that will never fade.
And because of him — we will always remember the Alamo.
