I met Jon about eleven years ago, and a few years after that he picked up golf. I invited him to play with our group, and from that moment on our friendship just took off. He became a full-blown golf fanatic almost overnight. We were out on the course at least twice a week, laughing, competing, and just enjoying the game together.
Jon always wanted to get better, and he often asked me for advice — which I was happy to give. And man, did he improve. He worked at it, he cared about it, and you could see his progress every time he swung a club.
One thing about Jon: he always showed up looking sharp. High-end golf shirts, perfectly put-together outfits, and the shoes… he must’ve owned more shoes than the rest of us combined. He brought style to every tee box.
Some of my best memories are witnessing not one, but two hole-in-ones by him. I was so excited for him both times — you could see how happy he was, and I’ll never forget those moments.
I’m going to miss him so much. Jon was one of the boys, through and through. My heart and prayers go out to his wife, Kendra, his sweet daughter, Brianna, and the rest of his family.
I hope you’re winning $5 golf bets in heaven, my friend. Until we meet again.
