Joseph "Jay" Hiram Wyatt Jr.'s Obituary
Joseph Hiram Wyatt, Jr., 37, made the ultimate sacrifice and heroically lost his life August 12, 2015. Affectionately known as “Jay,” he was born January 5, 1978 to Joseph H. Wyatt, Sr. and Kim Wyatt in Woodbridge, Virginia. He was the second of four children. He graduated from C.D. Hylton High School in 1996. After graduation, he proudly joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1997 to 2001 and attaining the rank of Second Class Petty Officer E5. While in the Navy, he met and fell in love with his wife Christina. They were married on May 3, 2002 at his parent’s family home in Virginia, and lived in Manassas and Norfolk, Virginia, Tampa and Titusville, Florida and Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. In May 2005, Jay began his career as a helicopter pilot at Helicopter Adventures, Inc., in Titusville, Florida. He qualified as an FAA CPL/IR pilot and Certified Flight Instructor Rotorcraft Helicopter and Instrument Helicopter.Throughout his life, Jay befriended and impacted everyone he met. With his fun-loving spirit, infectious laugh, and good-natured personality, Jay’s interactions were light-hearted and warm. He was loyal, humble, and selfless. Jay’s greatest pride and joy were his three daughters Cheyenne, Haley, and Reagan. He loved being a father. He especially loved teaching his girls, making them laugh, and being goofy with them. Jay always challenged his girls to be independent, to be themselves, and to be proud of who they are and where they are from.Jay was happiest when he was outdoors. He loved flying, fishing, hunting, 4-wheeling, and camping. Jay always challenged himself to be a better person. He taught himself how to play the guitar and loved showing and giving his family the world. He also loved the Washington Redskins, kimchi, making salsa, spending holidays with family and friends, and funny movie quotes (“Cool story, Hansel”).He is survived by his wife Christina Wyatt and daughters Cheyenne Wyatt, Haley Wyatt, and Reagan Wyatt (Broken Arrow, OK); his parents Joseph and Kim Wyatt (Wesley Chapel, FL); two sisters, Tabitha Freeman (Culpeper, VA) and Samantha Wyatt (Tampa, FL); one brother, Jacob Wyatt and his wife Tiffany Wyatt (Tampa, FL); two nephews, Caleb Freeman and Levi Freeman (Culpeper, VA); four nieces, Abigail Freeman and Madeline Freeman (Culpeper, VA), Brooke Wyatt and Kailyn Wyatt (Tampa, FL); special lifelong friends, Troy Rose (Fredericksburg, VA), Joshua Huggins (Montross, VA), and Paul Wilson (Stafford, VA); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, friends in the U.S., South Korea, and all around the world who love him and will miss him dearly.He was preceded in death by his grandfather and grandmother Norman Wyatt and Bertha Wyatt; his grandfather Hyung Gwon Kim; his uncle, John Maxwell Wyatt II; and his lifelong friend, Jason Ayers.Jay’s Wake will be held at Floral Haven Funeral Home of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm. Funeral services will be held at LifeChurch.tv, 2420 E Kenosha St., Broken Arrow, Ok, on August 25, 2015 at 1:00 pm. Following the services, Jay will be laid to rest in the Veterans Field of Honor at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will be held on August 29, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Nokesville Church of the Brethren in Nokesville, Virginia.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Captain Jay Wyatt Memorial Fund (www.gofundme.com/captainwyatt)
