Joyce M Wiley's Obituary
Joyce Wiley, 86, went to be with our Lord on May 15, 2015. Joyce was born in Bernice, Louisiana on July 9, 1928 to Carl and Homie (Tubbs) Shaddock. Joyce spent her youth loving and caring for her sister Carolyn and her brother Edward before being blessed with her stepmother Claudia (Woodard) and brother Michael.Joyce raised two daughters, Joy Elaine Olivas (Harper) and Pamela Sue Benton (Harper) who inherited her love of reading, movies, sewing, and music. She also enjoyed dancing and gardening and was frequently called upon to give advice to her granddaughter about plants. Joyce worked for the Singer Sewing Company for nearly 20 years as a saleswoman and bookkeeper. Her love of fashion made her a perfect addition to Walton’s dress shop and her bookkeeping skills lead her to finish her working years at the Bank of Arcadia. She lived in Louisiana for nearly all of her 86 years, and spent her last years living in Colorado and Oklahoma with her daughters and their families.Joyce is survived by her daughters Joy (& Richard) Olivas and Pam (& Chuck) Benton, brother Mike (& Linda) Shaddock, sister Lois (& John ) McClelen, grandchildren Michelle (& Bill) Rose, Christopher Birdsong, Phil (& Christy) Olivas, April ( & Brian) Dehnhardt, and Alicia ( & Dave) Swaim. Joyce was blessed with eight great-grandchildren Brandon, Kaden, Desiree, Kennadey, Jack, Jessica, Collyn, and Alexis. Joyce will also be greatly missed by her best friends Monroe Farrington and Joyce Murphy.In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Joyce’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
