My condolences to his family, I know he was a well respected man both on and off the track!
My only personally notable memory with him was in the early 90's when he and Dave Blaney were running the Casey Luna Ford. They had just raced with the Outlaws at Williams Grove, and for some reason called my Automotive machine shop in Carlisle to ask if I could hone some kingpin bushings for their front spindles...being a devoted Ford man, of course I accepted!
Kenny brought them by, and we talked a bit about his experiences, I appreciated the time he gave me, and being in my 20's at the time, I felt respected for what I could do.
When I finished the job, I asked if he had any shirts with him I could purchase. He said he didn't have any, but could give me the hat he had on..of course I accepted it, and asked him to sign it!
I wore that hat forever! I was so proud when they went on to win the Syracuse Supernationals the next week..I realize that the small job I did wasn't the reason that happened, but it made me feel like I had a part in it!
He was a special man and will be missed by so many!
Godspeed sir!!
