We just found out Larry passed away. What a wonderful funny man. We always had a great time with him. He was very helpful to us at racing. RIP
My most favorite memories of uncle is spending the summers with uncle and auntie Kim and Duane. The stories uncle would tell us about racing and watching with him. I would call uncle the pool man because he made sure before we swim the pool passed his test. I loved how he cared for our family his love for all if was understood he loved my mom so much. Uncle I am going to miss you so much. Christina williams (Burner)
This is Rick Danforth, his nephew from California. My earliest memory of many memories of Larry was back when I was probably only eight years old after school we would be bussed over to kacky and Larry’s house. I remember one time they were not at home and Larry had a electric scooter, parked on the backside of their house, I took the scooter and coasted it down the sidewalk And back, then I put it back. I was hoping that Larry would not notice which he did not as far as I know, I also remember going to drag races a couple of times with him. I was very interested about racing myself at the time. I was just a small child but I remember when they would tow the 55 Chevy, the Orange Lemon back to the pits he would let me guide the car back to the pit area. That is something I will never forget. I do remember back even farther before kacky and Larry got married we would drag Main Street in Pueblo Colorado after seeing Larry we Would all get in his 57 Chevy convertible and drag Main Street I remember how much fun it was for us to be able to do that. I also remember the time in Tulsa Oklahoma when he helped Bill Maverick work on his wheel standing car called the Little Red Wagon. The times when we would go over to the river across from their house, Larry built a raft and we would go up river and then ride it down. Lots of memories, but Larry was always laughing and enjoying life. Thank you for all the memories. Until we see you again, Rest in pease.
As I reflect, my heart is warmed by the joyful memories I have of Larry. Uncle Larry was the fun uncle who made every moment feel like an adventure. I’ll never forget the summer when he and aunt Kacky would turn ordinary days into extraordinary ones, whether we were building Rafts to float on the river or engaging in epic water fights or watching him win his races at the track. Those were carefree times, filled with laughter and splashes, all treasures I’ll hold forever. Uncle Larry was more than just fun. He was a good man who loved his family deeply. I am comforted, knowing that his spirit lives on in all of us who had the privilege to know and love him. Uncle Larry will be miss dearly, but he will always hold a special place in my heart. With love, Debbie Nettles
