Beverly Louvenia (Johnson) Azzan
To the family of Lillian,
Ron, I am eternally grateful for your kindness of making me aware of Lillian’s transition. Lillian was my cousin on my father’s side. Unfortunately, I never knew her before her move to Tulsa, Oklahoma, but I thank God that He gave me the unforgettable blessing of knowing her then.
I had those blessings of visiting with her during her time at Woodlawn. I remember a Lillian who was ALWAYS upbeat, always hospitable and just plain fun to be with. The few times that I took her out to eat with my family she had a way of making everyone happy in the place–the servers, the hostess, customers visiting, etc. I am blessed to have her smile engrafted in my heart forever. I don’t ever remember Lillian not smiling.
She was quite the conversationalist. Although the stories were repeats of those I had heard before, it was always each time as if I had heard them for the first time. Every time I would laugh and she would laugh even the more and the harder. She loved to tell me stories about you and Luwanna and about the former husband whom for some reason she would always forget what it was that she wanted to say about him.
I adored the many beautiful pics she had of her children and their children in the living room of her apartment. Often when I came to visit, Lillian would have displaced her key and we had to have the receptionist help us out. Once in, however, she was the perfect hostess. Once again the stories would come about the pictures that were on the table and in her bedroom. My mother-in-law who is now 97 also enjoyed Ms. Lillian. She, too, sends her condolences.
In closing, I just want to remind everyone of what a lovely, beautiful, unique lady Lillian was. I loved her so much; she was so easy to love. She stole my heart and anyone who had the blessing and pleasure of knowing her I have no doubt got their hearts stolen as well.
This obituary was so moving, so beautiful. Thank you. I didn’t know those things about Lillian such as her being chaplain over prisons in MI, nevertheless, I’m not surprised. She was just plain gold; her heart filled with rubies and other fine gems. I cannot imagine the pain of your loss but I do know the happiness you have in your soul in knowing that there is NO question that she now abides in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ. Halleluyah!!!
I will always be in deep gratitude to God and to you for blessing me with the privilege, honor and joy of knowing this fine and excellent lady. How blessed we all are to have had such a wonderful person in our lives.
Eternally grateful,
Your cousin, B. Louvenia Azzan (daughter of Acklin C. Johnson)
