Linda Curry's Obituary
Linda Curry (Whitlock), age 74, died Tuesday, August 4th, peacefully in her Broken Arrow home while surrounded by her family. While lung cancer claimed another victim God welcomed home another of his precious ones. Linda was born on October 4, 1940 in Columbia, MO to John T. and Maggie Whitlock. Her family moved to Tulsa in 1953. Linda graduated from Holy Family in 1958. At age 20, she married Paul Franks of Tulsa. Together they had three children. After 13 years of marriage, the couple divorced. Linda then married Sam Curry of Tulsa. Linda and Sam were married for 40 years. Linda began her professional career as a bookkeeper and secretary for Mid Continent Leather Sales in 1970 and retired as its successful owner in 2008. Although strong and independent, Linda was most caring, compassionate and selfless. She was a student of the Bible. She taught children’s Sunday school at Covenant Fellowship Bible Church for many years. She loved singing and was a member of Homeward Bound Quartet, ministering to countless retired and senior citizens. Linda and Sam attended Memorial Bible Church of Tulsa. Linda’s infectious laugh and warm smile will be missed as well as her amazing cooking. Her love for family, and her Lord and Savior, Jesus, made her an even more beautiful and inspiring person. The peace and joy she exhibited during her two year battle with cancer left a deep and lasting impression on all who were near her. “… well done, Linda, My good and faithful servant”. She is survived by her husband Sam Curry; brother Jack Whitlock of Indianapolis and sister Sue White of Tulsa; 3 children, David, Andy and Margie; 6 grandchildren, Coye Anne Queen, AJ Franks, Dillon Franks, Lindsey Parke, Hailey Franks and Sommer Franks; and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, August 10th at 10:30 am, Mingo Valley Bible Fellowship (formerly known as Memorial Bible Church), 8720 East 61st Street, Tulsa, OK 74133. Family will be greeting guests from 9:30 till the time of the service.
