Dr. Lottie Jean Tryon's Obituary
Lottie Jean Tryon was born on October 9, 1931 in Winchester, Arkansas. She and her late husband, Charles Sr., spent over 60 years in Christian service as pastors, music evangelists and missionaries. The Tryons helped found the International Association of Bible Fellowship Centers and launched the missionary outreach, Asia Orient Missions. They created educational centers and churches in the Philippines, Okinawa, Guam, Saipan, Papua New Guinea and Hawaii. Lottie is known across Southeast Asia as “Mom Tryon.” Lottie Tryon was the International Association Coordinator for Asia Orient Missions. She is the primary author of the Christian distance education curriculum used in the Aldersgate Program at God’s Bible College. That curriculum has been translated into many languages and has been distributed world-wide. Lottie Tryon earned a BA in Business, an MA of Educational Administration, and completed all of the course work for a Ph.D. in Education. She received an honorary doctorate from God’s Bible College. Lottie Tryon is survived by five sons; Charles Armen Tryon, Jr. and his wife Tresa of Broken Arrow, Henry Gipson Tryon of Tulsa, Mark Allen Tryon and his wife Raetta of Tulsa, Thomas Woodrow Tryon and his wife Jackie of Kansas City, KS and Stephen Eugene Tryon and his wife Jamie of Corinth, TX. Lottie Tryon enjoyed the company of 13 grandchildren and 8 adoring great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to the Tryon Memorial Project that will honor Doctors Lottie and Charles Tryon. To celebrate where their missionary work began, this memorial will be in a church located in the Philippines.
