Loyd H. Sutton's Obituary
Loyd Hulland Sutton, 97, of Tulsa, passed away October 8, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born October 26, 1922 in C-Tree, OK to Roy & Ila Sutton.
He moved to Tulsa in the late 1940's. Loyd and June attended East Side church of Christ where they were baptized and began their lifelong membership in the church of Christ. When the Memorial Drive church of Christ was planted they moved to help grow that congregation where he served as a deacon. For the last 51 years he has been attending 29th and Yale church of Christ.
Loyd enjoyed gardening, woodworking, camping, fishing, hunting, playing cards and spending time with friends and family. He served in WWII in Europe and Northern Africa from 1943-1945. After the war, he was a mechanic and a sheet metal journeyman until he retired at the age of 62 and started his own business.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edith Leeth & Imogene Clagg; his wife of 52 years, Mary June (Morris) Sutton; and his stepdaughter Lisa McCray.
Loyd is survived by his wife of 20 years, Alice Schmidt Sutton; siblings Cecil Sutton, O'Leta Thomas, and Roy Sutton; children Barbara, Daryl, and Gary Sutton; 5 granddaughters; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 step-children; 6 step-grandchildren; and 4 step-great grandchildren.
A funeral service for the family to celebrate Loyd's life will be at 10am, Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Floral Haven Chapel. Interment to follow at 11am at Floral Haven Cemetery for any who would like to attend.
Donations may be made in his honor to Hope Harbor in Claremore, OK and In Search of the Lord's Way in Edmond, OK.
