Margaret Sue Brush's Obituary
Margaret “Sue” Brush, born February 11, 1951, in Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the cherished daughter of Walter and Ada Souders, who welcomed her into a world she would later fill with kindness, curiosity, and quiet joy.
Sue had a gentle spirit and a deep appreciation for the simple beauties of life. She adored flowers—especially carnations, roses, and sunflowers—and found comfort in watching birds, squirrels, and even the everyday rhythms of people around her. Her favorite TV show, Gunsmoke, was a constant companion, and she could spend hours admiring the bright colors and graceful movements of tropical fish, particularly her beloved guppies.
Family was the heart of Sue’s world. She treasured every gathering, every laugh, every shared meal, and every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren. Nothing brought her more joy than seeing her family together. She also held a special, unwavering love for her dog, Louie, who remained faithfully by her side.
She is reunited with her husband Rickey Brush; son Shane Brush; parents Walter and Ada Souders; and Brother Richard Gragg.
She is survived by her daughters Misty Deffenbaugh, and husband Dale; Kassie Brammer, and husband Cody; grandkids Cory Deffenbaugh, and wife Melissa; Brandon Deffenbaugh, and wife Hailey; Adam Deffenbaugh, and wife Lana; and Kayden Brammer; great grandkids MacKenzie, Keli, Benjamin, Quinnlee, Shaine, Micah, Madden, and Finley; as well as her siblings Phyllis Ryon; Hazel Fry; Carolyn Ball; and Walter Souders; as well as a host of other family and friends that will forever miss and love her.
Sue’s life was defined by warmth, quiet strength, and a deep appreciation for the world around her. She will be remembered for her gentle presence, her loving heart, and the way she made life a little brighter simply by being in it.
Her family will forever hold her memory close.
