Maria Christine Gonzales' Obituary
Maria Christine Gonzales passed from this veil of tears on December 17, 2020 after years of combating multiple physical complications. Maria was born in Fort Wayne on November 17, 1988 to Kevin and Michele Werling, and was baptized in the Christian faith the same date.
Maria said “God is King…I am a child of God…therefore, I am a princess!” She was very fond of fabulous ball gowns, pretty jewelry, and always kept a tiara at hand for those special occasions. Maria greatly enjoyed the family dog, rabbits, and even more so, babies. She was beautiful both inside and out. Her peaceful spirit and lovely soul overcoming her physically compromised body, she radiated the light of God’s love wherever she was. Maria was the bravest person her family knew, with her life bearing testimony to the power of God in the face of adversity. She kept herself ready for the day when God would send for her. She was a great joy and blessing to those in her life of 32 years until God called her home.
Maria was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Theophil “Ted” and Bernice Werling, her maternal grandparents Gloria Coil and Paul (Arline) Gerig, and her beloved Aunt Roberta “Bobbie” Werling. Maria is survived by her husband of 6 years, José Gonzalez, her parents, brother Heath (Nina) Werling, and brother Caleb Werling.
Viewing will be held from 11:00-1:00pm on December 21, 2020 at King of Kings Lutheran Church in Glenpool, Oklahoma, followed by a funeral service to celebrate Maria’s life at 1:00pm. A Celebration of Life service will also be held in Maria’s home state of Indiana in the coming months.
Donations may be made to King of Kings Lutheran Church in Glenpool, Oklahoma or to the Ronald McDonald House.
