Marilyn Louise Lewis' Obituary
Marilyn L. Lewis, a resident of Tulsa, passed away December 24th, 2016 at the age of 83. Marilyn was born on March 29th, 1933, to Jesse Hartsook and Mildred Young Hartsook in Westerville, Ohio. Marilyn graduated from Otterbein College in 1954 with a degree in teaching. She taught English, Speech and Drama, before meeting her husband Dean. Dean and Marilyn were married December 23rd, 1956 and just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Together they raised a family while living in Columbus, New York, St. Louis and Tulsa. Marilyn was caring, energetic, and full of life. She was the anchor of her family, providing a stable and loving home to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was always open to generations of family and friends. She enjoyed bowling and was the Secretary of the Home Investors Bowling League for almost 30 years. She loved tutoring and mentoring at Aspen Creek Elementary. She will be remembered and cherished for her giving spirit and warmth and wit, by her grateful family and friends. Marilyn is survived by her husband Dean, her son Michael Lewis, her two daughters Teri Overton and Kathy Lewis, her grandchildren Danny Overton and Barrett Lewis; great-grandchildren Jay and Selene Overton and Ellis Lewis; her dear sister Marjorie Corkery and adoring nephews and niece David Corkery, Mark Corkery, David Hartsook and Susan Hartsook. Marilyn was preceded in passing by her parents Jesse and Mildred and her brother David Hartsook. Marilyn’s Memorial Service will be held at 3pm, January 7th, 2017, at the Floral Haven Chapel in Broken Arrow. A reception, in the hope of sharing the love, laughter and memories of Marilyn, will follow in the Family Center at Floral Haven from 4-6pm. Marilyn would be honored to have donations made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel in Broken Arrow.
