Marolyn L Hunnicutt's Obituary
Marolyn L. Hunnicutt, age 79, passed away at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on April 3, 2020. She was born on September 7, 1940, in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, to Otto Buell and Margueritte Lippeatt Hunnicutt. Marolyn worked as a school administrator with Tulsa Public Schools for 28 years.
As a child, Marolyn lived in the Ft. Smith, Arkansas, area. She attended middle school and high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Chelsea, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, she attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where she received a B.S. in Elementary Education. Later she completed a M.Ed. and post graduate work in School Administration at the University of Tulsa. ,
Marolyn taught elementary school for two years then transitioned to school administration. She was the principal of Audubon Elementary School, Lee Elementary School, and Nimitz Middle School in Tulsa, Oklahoma, for 26 years. Following her retirement from Tulsa Public Schools, she served two years as the Elementary Principal for Victory Christian School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. After purchasing her lake side retirement home in Greenwood, Arkansas, she worked two years as the Executive Director of the Ft. Smith Literacy Council.
As a young adult, Marolyn played in softball leagues. Her other interests included golf, reading, studying the Bible, listening to gospel music, and pampering her nieces and nephews. In recent years she became interested in politics, current events, and was a supporter of the Nancy Harman Ministries.
Marolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Otto Buell and Margueritte Evelyn Lippeatt Hunnicutt, two brothers Otto Buell Hunnicutt, Jr., Richard Hunnicutt, and one baby sister Jo Ann Hunnicutt. She is survived by a brother Gilbert and wife Jeanette Hunnicutt of Greenwood, Arkansas, brother Loyd and wife Jeannie Hunnicutt of El Cajon, California, sister Carolyn and husband Eldon Anderson of Guthrie, Oklahoma, sister-in-law Wilma Hunnicutt of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held. Limited visitation will be Thursday, April 9, 2020, from 11:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m. A memorial service celebrating the life of Marolyn Hunnicutt will be scheduled at a later date at Floral Haven Funeral Home.
