Bill and I wanted so much to visit the family this past summer. We would have loved visiting with Mary and all of you.
With the news of her passing, Bill has been watching a video we made years ago, of both our families’ pictures set to music. Wish we could be there to reminisce with you. If anyone wants to see the video please let us know.
Mary welcomed me into the family warmly when Bill took me to his parents’ home for Sunday dinner just after we met. Holiday events in their home were some of my favorite memories, with each room crowded and noisy, children running around and food preparations in the kitchen. But we didn’t really start until Mary arrived bearing her scrumptious dishes. She took everything in hand so we all knew what to do. She included me in a way that made me feel accepted. Sometimes she would take me into her confidence so we could pray together after everyone else went to bed.
In many ways she was a role model for me. I admired her taste in clothes, her hair style and her nonchalant dignity. I remember how well she managed you three boys! That took great skill! And a lot of love!
There will always be a tender place in my heart for Mary. She will be greatly missed.
In her honor we have contributed to the care of rescued children through Redemption Ranch. I know she would approve of something that will make a great impact on a child’s life.
With love from Bill, Rilene, Andrew, Ramona, Ken, Joy, and Paprika.
