Geneva Maxine Gates' Obituary
Geneva “Maxine” Gates, a resident of Broken Arrow, passed away June 24, 2018 at the age of 92. She was born September 9, 1925 to Ernest Colbert Cooper and Cora Lucinda (Lukens) Cooper in Cadiz, Indiana. She enjoyed homemaking, sewing, cooking, bible study, praying for others, yard work, gardening and was a Sunday School Teacher. She worked at Sears and Roebuck for 18 years and quit to be a homemaker. She grew up in Hancock County, Indiana on a family farm. And then moved to Louisiana, when her husband, John was transferred in 1966. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Cora Cooper; daughter, Jill Ann Gates; brothers, Harry, Roger, Robert, and Wayne Cooper and sister, Kathleen Haynie.Survivors include her loving husband, John Gates; two daughters, Janie Young and husband, Robert, and Patti Milford and husband, Brian; six grandchildren, Angela Thomason, Missy Talbott, Christi Hughey, Clay Milford, Cooper Milford, and Sarah Young and six great grandchildren.Viewing will be held Wednesday, June 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home.Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 27th at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Williamson officiating.
