Maynard Vernon SharpAugust 12, 1922 ~ January 1, 2018Maynard Vernon Sharp, a resident of Virginia Beach, Virginia, went to be with his Lord on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2018, at the age of 95, in Norfolk, Virginia.Mr. Sharp was born in Oklahoma, and with the exception of the three years he served his nation at the end of World War II, lived there with his wife, Tressa Inez, for the greater portion of his life.Maynard and Inez had a wonderful commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ. He served in First Assembly of God Church in Seminole, OK for nearly thirty years, with 23 of those serving as the Sunday School Administrator. He and his wife, after moving to Tulsa, OK, were a committed part of Woodlake Assembly of God in Tulsa under several pastors including Rev. Armon Newburn and Rev. Herschel Brummett. He was also involved in the Tulsa Chapter of the International Fellowship of Christian Business Men.Following his retirement, however, he and his wife, (deceased 2004), moved to Virginia Beach, VA, in 2001, to be in closer proximity to their daughter and only child, Lacrecia Kaye, and her family. Lacrecia’s husband, Dr. Dan Goff, serves as the senior pastor of Calvary Assembly of God in Virginia Beach. While living in Virginia Beach, Maynard and Inez were an integral part of Calvary Assembly as Maynard was very involved in the Men’s Ministries program at the church.Maynard Sharp was an excellent business man becoming a highly successful distributor for over forty years for the Tom’s Peanut Company, located in Columbus, GA. Maynard owned the Tulsa Tom’s Distributorship in Tulsa, OK and was among the top twenty distributors in the nation.Maynard was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 62 years, Tressa Inez Farmer Sharp.He is survived by his daughter, Lacrecia, and her husband, Dr. Dan Goff of Virginia Beach, VA; two granddaughters: Rhonda Elaine Nangle, of Virginia Beach, VA and Esther Leigh Upson, and her husband, Kevin, of Chesapeake, VA; two great-grandsons: Joshua David Nangle of Virginia Beach, VA and Skylar Daniel Warren of Chesapeake, VA. Two brothers: Bernard Sharp and his wife, June, of Shawnee, OK; Darrell Sharp of Mannford, OK; and one sister: Doris Cooper of Newalla, OK, along with a number of nieces and nephews and a host of wonderful friends.Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, Saturday, January 20th, Floral Haven Funeral Home with the Funeral Service to follow at 12:30 PM, Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel
