Michael Christopher Khalaf's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Michael Christopher Khalaf
Michael Christopher Khalaf, lovingly known as Mike, passed away on February 5, 2026. He was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend whose life touched many with warmth, humor, and faith.
Mike was the cherished son of Farouk and Nancy Khalaf. He is survived by his three beloved sons, Gavin, Adam, and Dane Khalaf, who were the pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by his brothers, David Khalaf and Brent Deter; his sisters, Cynthia Hebenstreit and Kathy Hettel; and many loving relatives and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
In life, Mike was a kind soul, funny, with a quirky sense of humor, and exceptionally intelligent. He was a talented cook who loved sharing good food with those around him. A lifelong surfer, Mike, found peace and joy at the beach, where the rhythm of the waves reflected his free spirit.
Above all, Mike loved the Lord with his whole heart and soul. His deepest wish was to leave this world and its pain behind and to dwell in the presence of Jesus. That wish has now been fulfilled. Mike is in the presence of Jesus; he has been given a new body and is finally free from pain.
Though we may not fully understand this loss, we find reassurance in Scripture: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
This is a journey that we all must take, and each must go alone. It is all part of the Master’s plan. Remember the love we shared—but not with heads bowed low. Miss me but let go.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Michael’s memory to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance (DBSA), in care of Michael C. Khalaf, at https://www.dbsalliance.org.
