Mildred Pauline "Peggy" Collins' Obituary
Mildred P. Collins This beloved lady departed life here to be with our Lord on July 1, 2011. Peggy was born to Grover Cleveland Cox and Clara Elizabeth Schaeffer Cox on May 5, 1915 in Minneapolis, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Elmer Leroy Collins, sisters Thelma M. Hannum and Rosalie R. Leach and brothers Grover C. Cox and Eugene B. Cox. She is survived by daughters Paulette M. Collins of Broken Arrow, OK; Colleen R. Gould and husband Tom Gould of Littleton, CO; Robin J. Collins of Tulsa; and son Lt. Col. Bruce A. Collins and wife Karen of Walden, CO. During her first ten years, Peggy was raised by a Methodist minister and his wife. Peggy was a long time member of Asbury Methodist Church. Of many paid jobs over her life time, volunteering at St. Francis Hospital was her longest and fondest work. Peggy was devoted to her husband Lee, cherished family and friends, and was the very best Mother. She had a fun loving, unselfish, compassionate Christian spirit. She enjoyed dancing, traveling, cooking, being in gardens and being outdoors. Babies were her greatest joy. She was blessed with many nieces, nephews, twelve grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Despite loss of health and memory in later years, Peggy’s strength, gratitude, humor and love for people still shined through those shadows. She inspired us and will be dearly missed.
