Ned Hoon Walters Sr.'s Obituary
Ned Hoon Walters Sr., age 90, of Broken Arrow, OK joined his heavenly family on February 18, 2013. Ned was born August 10, 1922, at Buffalo, Ohio to parents John E. Walters and Edna 'Ruth' Hoon Walters. In 1939, at age 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific during World War II aboard the submarines R16, Diodon, R6 and U.S.S. Catfish. He was a proud and active member of Subvets, Muskogee War Memorial Park Home of the Batfish, and a participant in the April, 2012, Oklahoma Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Following the war, Ned returned to his hometown of Columbus, Ohio, where he and his wife Margaret, who he affectionately called 'Midge' throughout their 64 year marriage, raised their 3 children. In 1964 he relocated to Oklahoma with Rockwell International Corporation from which he retired as a supervisor in 1983. He enjoyed numerous hobbies, one of which included race car driving at Hallett race track where he competed until the age of 88.Ned was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Walters. He is survived by two sons, Ned Jr. (Lori) Walters of Norwich New York, David (Karen) Walters of Traverse City, Michigan and daughter, Ann (Dale) Lance of Inola, Oklahoma; grandchildren Brian Walters, David (Tina) Walters, Dawn (Scott) Manley, Stacey (Craig) Lindsey; great-grandchildren David III and Michael Walters; Matthew and Sierra Manley; and, Cade, Cason, and Londyn Lindsey; his sister Janice Jarvis of Columbus, Ohio and sister-in-law Betty Walters of North Haven, Connecticut as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Visitation will be held at Floral Haven in Broken Arrow on Friday 2/22 from 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm Funeral Service will be held Saturday, 2/23/13 @ 10:00 a.m. at Floral Haven Funeral Home, 6500 South 129th East Ave., Broken Arrow, OK 74012; 918-252-2519In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Muskogee War Memorial Park, 3500 Batfish Drive, Muskogee, OK 74402
