One year I received a complex model train set for Christmas and Pete ( married to my sister) was an Electronics Tech in AF. So he, and couple others, offered to put it together and make it work. There were all kind of "triggers" on the track, for example go by a road and gate comes down, water station that would have a light come on, etc.
Anyway, Pete worked all day on that model train set and finally got everything working! Not only that they mounted it on plywood with rollers so it would slide under my bed.
He was my hero!
He also made me a black box, about size of a shoe box, that had about dozen lights that flashed in random sequences 24 hours a day. For some reason, as a small kid, I loved that box!
And not to mention the headphones he gave me out of a jet, I had many adventure wearing those!
Thanks Pete, may you Rest in Peace!
