Owen "Pete" Ray Hern's Obituary
Owen Ray “Pete” Hern, 84, passed away peacefully in the early hours of March 16, 2020. He was born July 4, 1935 in Appleton, AR to John and Rose Hern. He graduated from Hector high school in 1953.
He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and went on the retire in 1977 as a Tech Sergeant. His time in the USAF would take him on many deployments around the world including multiple tours during the Vietnam War.
He married Freda Parham in 1959. They had two children together. In 1971, he transferred from McConnell Air Force base in Wichita, KS to Kelly Air Force base in San Antonio, TX. After his military retirement, he went on to work for Ohio Medical company until his retirement at age 62.
He lived in San Antonio until early March 2020. He became resident of the Veterans Home in Claremore.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Ola Fay Condley (his twin sister), Oralee Hern, Albert Hern, Ted Hern, Billie Hern, Herbert Hern, Olene Hern, and John Hern. He is survived by two sons; Kevin Hern (Tammy) of Tulsa, OK and Jeff Hern (Tammy) of Plumerville, AR; one sister, Loretta Rethard of Moore, OK; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren
A private funeral will be held on a future date at the Ft Smith National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations/cards to:

The U.S. Air Force Honor Guard will give full military honors during the ceremony.
