In the summer of 1962 my family moved to Longmont as did Peggy's family and that of her cousin Curtis L. Green. Their parents started Green and Oliver Sausage Co. and Peggy, Curtis and I started 8th grade at Central Jr. High. The Oliver's and my family also became members of First Christian Church (now Life Bridge) where Peggy and I were very active in the youth group led by pastor Harold and Ruth Ann McCracken. Halloween 1962, Peggy and Curtis Co hosted a costume party, and that began the start of many many parties held at either Oliver's on Gay St. or Green's on 3rd Ave.Always the favorite snack served was Green and Oliver sausage balls dipped in red hot applesauce!!!!! While in High School, Peggy was very active in Pep Club, Spanish Club, Art Club, Big Sisters and National Honor Society. After Friday Football and BBall home games there were dances at the Memorial Building, however once Stan and The Sounds of Silence Band started playing the dances, Peggy didn't get to dance but stood by the stage admiring and encouraging Stan. She was an artist and should have pursued Interior Decorating, as her homes were always lovely, tastefully and cozily decorated. When she wanted the exterior of their home painted, not just any color would do, She had Stan drive her all over Lgmt. for hours, even days checking out exterior paint on houses, until she found just the right shade, got the color code and had it mixed for her home. Indeed it was the perfect the green/gray that she wanted. Her left handed writing was beautiful matching her artistic talent. However, Peggy didn't often write letters, as she told me, she found it hard to be brief and give quick over views, she felt she had to give the Encyclopedia version of what ever was happening in her life. I have never known anyone who loved their High School class as much as Peggy did. She was on many of the LHS Class of 1967 Reunion and Birthday Party committees, her excitement for the event was palpable and she was so happy to see and visit w/ all the attendees, but disappointed that not every single person in the class showed up. Our Reunions and Class Birthday parties will never be the same and we All will dearly miss our sweet Peggy. Her reunion is now w/ her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Stan, Jace, Nancy and her parents, she has a new perfect body and for the first time ever, perfect eyesight.
