Perry Sanders' Obituary
Perry Ray Sanders, EdD, passed from this earth the morning of March 13, 2024, into the loving arms of his Savior and Lord. He was 75 years of age. He was born in Heavener, OK, and the sixth of eight children born to James Don and Nancy Cleo Sanders. He grew up in Olustee, OK and graduated from Olustee High School. . Perry lost his vision at the age of 9 and continued to learn skills of life without his vision and participated in all activities. Anything his friends did he was right there with them.
He completed an Associate’s degree from Altus Junior College, a Bachelor’s degree from Southwestern OK State University, a Master’s Degree from OK State University and a Doctoral Degree from Oklahoma State University.
Perry’s professional career started as a Rehabilitation Teacher of the Blind in Tulsa. He also worked 27 years as a career counselor with the City of Tulsa/Work Force Oklahoma. Following retirement from the City, he then became an Assistant Professor at Langston University of Tulsa teaching Master’s level courses for 15 years. Perry’s passion was helping people achieve either employment or furthering their education.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother JD and Cleo Sanders of Olustee, OK, one brother Don Sanders of Duke, OK, and one nephew Garett Gardner of Humble, TX.
He is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Marilyn of Tulsa, brothers Jim Sanders and wife Mary Ann of Thomas, OK, Gene Sanders and wife Linda of Moore, OK, Jaydee Sanders and wife Carolyn of Anadarko, OK, Mike Sanders and wife Cindi of Allen OK; sisters Judy Graham and husband Eddy of Clinton, OK, Linda Bilbrey of Mustang, OK, brother-in-law Jim Gardner and wife Judy of ElDorado KS; numerous nephews and nieces and an abundance of great friends.

Memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 12:30 PM at Floral Haven Funeral Home Chapel
