I met Mr. Wimpey when he came in to floral haven to make arrangements for a friend when I worked as a funeral director. After the service, he came in and we visited about the service and he let me know that I did good for a young gal and we visited for quite some time. We struck up a conversation and he let me know that he would be coming back in because he was in charge of several friends trusts and would like to meet with me. He entrusted me to help him over the years and it was a honor. I always looked forward to when he would stop by. He would tell the front desk “I want to meet with the meanest funeral director you have.” Then when they weren’t sure who he meant he would say “You know who I am talking about…that red-headed firecracker!” They would call me to let me know I had an upset family down at the desk but after the first time I always knew it was Perry. Over the years, he brought me such joy when he would visit. He would always ask for me that way and it was always a pleasure to get to see and speak with him. I always knew when I got the call that it was him and he always laughed when he could play that trick on someone new. Sometimes he would just stop by to visit, go to lunch or share his Oneok yearbook and share stories with me. He was a true gem of a man! He will be missed! This firecracker will always remember how kind, witty and genuine he was and how much pride he took in fulfilling his friends wishes! He always made my day when he came into the funeral home. I am so sorry for your loss. Just know he brightened my life for many years as I am sure he did for so many more. Perry Wimpey, you will be missed by the meanest, red-headed firecracker and it was a honor and privilege to have known you.
