Old Friend
Dear DB & Family,
I grew up, changed, and grew into my own sense of living; however, I have not forgotten the days of my youth hanging out over at you guys’ house on the weekends and heading off for some Sunday schooling. I remember being at your house and drinking some of the best tea ever on those hot summer days after playing outside with my best friend. I'm sorry I did not get to thank you in person for all the times you guys let me stay the night at your house when my own house wasn't exactly splendid at the time.
I want to thank you for all the times you guys allowed me to stay for dinner (great food by the way). Also, thank you for allowing me to play minesweeper and other cool games on your computer. Although, I was young and did not really know you guys as an adult would know you, from what I can remember of you all is that I felt at peace being at you guys’ house. Also, sorry for bleeding on your couch when I gashed my leg open. Those stitch scars I have on my leg now seem to remind me of the days of my youth with you guys. To be honest I have two scars on my leg that remind me of those days. And now that you all have passed on, I figure words spoken to the wind are better than no words said to you at all.
Although I may not have been a lifelong friend to all of you, I want you all to know what a wonderful second family you were to me in many of my elementary days. Also, going over to Grandma's house and playing (more like making racket :-)) on the digital piano there was fun too. Thanks for letting me tag along.
All in all, I just want to say thank you for helping me to have peace in my elementary days. And thank you to my old friend for all the fun we had playing inside and outside in those days. Please know that I remember you guys and I hope you two are enjoying that eternal peace that you all helped me to learn about in Sunday school.
From my heart, old family.
